About Kawai

do it right—do it once

From our roots as a small software company in 2007, Kawai Technologies has grown into a multidisciplinary logistics, engineering, and procurement company that operates across Nigeria. Our steady expansion and success is reliant upon our strict adherence to a core planning philosophy, which doubles as our mantra: Do it right—do it once

Our Vision

To be the leading and most efficient supply chain service provider in Africa

Our Mission

To gain our clients’ trust, confidence, and loyalty through prompt delivery of solutions that are designed to meet their exact needs at every opportunity. Services will be delivered by a team of enthusiastic, motivated, and competent staff who have the clients’ success as their measure of performance

Creative Adaptability

We are knowledgeable, dedicated, and proactive, with on-the-ground teams possessing cumulative decades of experience.

Our versatility allows us to develop and implement solutions to meet client’s needs while our competitors are still at the drawing board.

Our keen understanding of finance also enables us to best tailor projects to meet those client’s needs and when the project needs creative solutions, we employ novel approaches not otherwise in the Nigerian market and that guarantee success.

Leadership

Kawai Technologies is led by its two founders, Akinbo Akin-Olugbade and Iretekhai Okhai-Akhigbe. Their combined knowledge and experience span different fields and endeavours, while their well travelled and varied backgrounds enhance their singular approach to project management and delivery.

Akinbo Akin-Olugbade
Founder

Akinbo Akin-Olugbade holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Warwick University, UK, with further training at the Warwick Manufacturing Group. Akinbo is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and started his career in securities regulation at the Office of the Chief Accountant of the Securities and Exchange Commission Nigeria, personally working on transitioning companies filing standards from the Nigerian Accounting Standards Board to IFRS accounting Standards. He then worked for Nitro Ventures in the UK, a venture capital company, working closely with one of their investments, Nitro Digital, for 3 years.

Akinbo moved to Nigeria afterwards and joined Ponglomerape Holdings, Nigeria’s fourth largest fertiliser company, as Director of Operations for 5 years. Whilst at Ponglomerape, Akinbo conceptualised and rolled out its bulk-bagging subsidiary, which became the first indigenous bagging company for bulk shipments at Nigerian ports. Akinbo also project managed the company’s real estate investments, which included an 8,000-square-metre 12-unit estate in Maitama, Abuja, and a 12,000-square-metre 10-storey office plaza in Abuja’s Central Business District.

Iretekhai Okhai-Akhigbe
Founder

With a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Birmingham, a master’s degree in both Advanced Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Engineering from Imperial College London, and a master’s degree in Energy Studies from the Centre for Energy Petroleum Mineral Law and Policy, University of Dundee, Iretekhai Jonathan Okhai-Akhigbe has an extensive educational background. Iretekhai also has a decade of experience, beginning with a short stint at Intels Logistics, UK, then 2 years at the Nigeria-Sao Tome Joint Development Authority personally working with the team that organised the 2004 bid round.

In 2007, Iretekhai crossed over to the real estate sector as the Director of Asset Management at Anchorage Holdings, a principal investment company, becoming the Managing Director in 2010. Following his successes at Anchorage, Iretekhai joined the Board of Mainstream Energy Solutions in 2012, winning the concession to manage Kainji and Jebba Dams—Nigeria’s largest hydroelectric power generating dams.

Giving Back

Underpinning our aspirations and objectives is Kawai’s commitment to corporate social responsibility. By supporting nonprofit organisations whose focus is social wellbeing and education, Kawai is able to help improve the lives of the next generation and help them create their own better future. We therefore supports Fair Life Africa Foundation, which provides transitional accommodation for street children, and is staunch supporters of the Community Health Information Education Forum (C.H.I.E.F.), an NGO dedicated to providing medical care and advice, with a focus on women and mothers in the Ibeju-Lekki and Epe environs.

We also recognise that leadership must be nurtured. Kawai therefore sponsors The Bridge Programme, an initiative that provides continuous coaching and mentorship to university students and other young people to better prepare them for a contributory and solutions-driven life in corporate Nigeria. In addition, we recently sponsored a University of Lagos engineering team.

Supporting Creativity

Kawai is also patrons of the arts.

As lovers of Nigerian theatre, Kawai has sponsored 3 theatrical works by AbOriginal Productions: 2 performance runs of Oluronbi: The Musical in Lagos at MUSON Centre and the National Theatre, as well as Grip Am!, also at MUSON Centre.

Likewise, we are sponsors of the Tiwaworks annual social media event.
